Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
This is a
general road construction position which operates trucks, road construction and
maintenance equipment. The position
works on road construction and or maintenance projects and assists in
processing and delivery of road materials.
The position requires the operation of trucks and various types of light
to medium duty construction equipment and is under the supervision of the Road
Superintendent, Assistant Road Superintendent, or EO Specialist as directed by
the Road Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.
Train
to operate a variety of trucks, construction equipment (light and heavy),
maintenance machinery, and material processing equipment necessary for road
construction or maintenance projects.
2.
Train
to operate machinery and equipment to process, move, load, and store road
construction materials as directed.
3.
Learn
techniques and methods to operate machinery and equipment to construct and/ or
maintain roads as directed.
4.
Properly
learn to attach accessories to equipment as needed.
5.
Learn
and properly complete daily paperwork as required for construction and/or
maintenance activities.
6.
Learn
and perform daily maintenance and safety checks on assigned equipment and/or
vehicles, to include checking fluid levels, lubrication, and fueling.
7.
Learn
and accurately maintain vehicle and equipment maintenance records.
8.
Respond
to change productively and complete other tasks as assigned.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLS
1.
Ability to learn operational skills for
vehicles and light to medium duty construction equipment.
2.
General
knowledge of use of hand tools.
EXPERIENCE
1.
Completed
all requirements within time frame as per The Finney County Operator Trainee
Program or equivalent satisfactory experience as determined by the Director of
Public Works.
MENTAL AND
PHYSICAL ABILITIES
1.
Ability
to sit for long periods of time.
2.
Physical
agility to safely operate and maintain vehicles and machinery.
3.
Ability
to handle equipment or materials weighing in excess of one hundred pounds.
4.
Ability
to complete daily work and maintenance records clearly and legibly.
EDUCATION AND
TRAINING
1.
High
School diploma or equivalent
2.
Drivers
license

WORKING CONDITIONS
1.
This
position involves work in an outdoor environment year around in varying weather
