Job Description:

POSITION PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

 

This is an emergency response position with the general responsibility to provide emergency care in pre-hospital settings, provide care and transport for sick and injured patients, and promote education and awareness of emergency care procedures.  The Mobile Intensive Care Technician is under the supervision of the shift supervisor and the EMS Administrative team.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

1.  Respond to emergency calls for ambulance service to provide basic and

    advance life support care to injured or sick patients, including operation

    of emergency vehicles.

2.  Provide patient care for in and out of town transfers including proper

 documentation on the computer.

3.  Properly complete reports and forms to document services provided.

4.  Properly clean and maintain assigned vehicles, equipment, and building

    facilities.

5.  Maintain inventory of supplies and restock as necessary.

6.  Stand-by assistance for other agencies and departments as requested and       medical assistance associated with law enforcement investigations.

7.  Public education and EMS training programs, to include public

    relations presentations and classroom teaching responsibilities.

8.  Respond to change productively and complete other tasks as assigned.

 

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS                                          

 

1.  Knowledge of operation of fully equipped Type I mobile intensive care

    unit.

2.  Knowledge of general maintenance procedures for vehicles and equipment.

3.  Knowledge of emergency care procedures for sick or injured patients.

4.  Knowledge of safe operation of emergency vehicles in emergency situations.

 

EXPERIENCE

 

1.  Minimum of one year of field experience in emergency response procedures.

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES

 

1.  Ability to sit for long periods of time.

2.  Ability to communicate effectively with the public.

3.  Ability to move sick and injured patients.

4.  Ability to operate and move emergency care equipment.

5.  Ability to complete medical treatment procedures.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING 

 

1.  Associates Degree required for applicants certified after 1/1/02.

2.  Valid Kansas driver license.

3.  Kansas certification as Mobile Intensive Care Technician.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES   

 

1.  Not Applicable.

This position shall have access to all electronic and paper files containing protected health information for the purpose of completing the essential functions of the position in compliance with information privacy laws and Finney County Hybrid Entity internal policies and procedures relating to protected health information. In addition, a confidentiality agreement shall be signed by the employee as it relates to any information, regardless of the manner in which is communicated or maintained.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

1.  This position involves work in emergency medical situations.

2.  Stressful situations may occur when dealing with emergency situations.

3.  This position may be exposed to highly contagious and communicable

    diseases and viruses.

4.  Out of town travel may be required.
