POSITION PURPOSE AND
OBJECTIVES
Responsible
for the monitoring of clients assigned to the program during non-traditional
office hours. Surveillance will be
performed independently under the general supervision of the Youth Services
Director and the Sanctions Supervisor to provide feedback as to client
compliance with court orders and Juvenile Intensive Supervision standards.
This position will also be responsible for the
transportation of juveniles placed in the Juvenile Justice Authority
custody. This will include transporting
juveniles to placements throughout the state of Kansas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Surveillance will primarily be conducted during evening and
weekend hours.
2. Transporting of juveniles will primarily be from 8:00 am to 5:00
pm Monday through Friday.
3. Monitors and assesses offender compliance with conditions of
supervision and phase system including curfew restrictions and plain sight
observations of the offenders residence to ensure illegal activity or
contraband is not present.
4. Prepares reports on all applicable offenders, as per policy and
procedures requirements.
5. Provide testimony before the court as necessary.
6. Maintains open lines of communication with Youth Services staff,
law enforcement, placement agencies, social services agencies, or others who
may be involved in dealing with the client while respecting the confidentiality
of client information.
7. Responsible for adhering to all agency policies and procedures as
established by the 25th Judicial District Youth Services Division
and the Juvenile Justice Authority.
8. Safety is the most important aspect of transporting juveniles to
placements, follow all policies and procedures specific to the transportation
of juvenile offenders across the state.
9. Performs related work as required.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE
AND SKILLS
1. Knowledge of operations of Youth Services
program as well as law enforcement investigation, arrest procedures, and
transportation of Juvenile offenders.
2. Considerable knowledge of human behavior including socially
deviant behavior.
3. Skills interviewing and obtaining information from offenders and
people with whom the offender associates while under supervision.
4. Considerable knowledge of secure techniques of transporting
juveniles.
5. Skills in management, planning, work organization and job
coordination.
6. Preferred bilingual, but not required.
EXPERIENCE
1. Minimum one year of experience in law enforcement or related
educational training.

AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES
1. Ability to sit for long periods of time.
2. Ability to analyze situations and make sound
judgments.
3. Ability to read reports and other written
material.
4. Ability to complete accurate forms and
reports.
5. Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn or
otherwise work with hands.
6. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 100
lbs. or more.
EDUCATION
AND TRAINING
1. Associate Degree from an accredited two year college with a major
in criminal justice, psychology or related field. High school diploma with two years experience
working in law enforcement can be substituted for degree requirement.
2. Must be at least 21 years of age.
3. Must have a valid Kansas driver license.

office environment.
2. Stressful situations may occur when dealing with the public and
as a result of the workload.
