Job Objectives:

Answers multi-line telephone system for the Office of the District Attorney, 18th Judicial District. 

 

Essential Job Functions:

Answers multi-line phone system, greets the public and law enforcement officials and provides referrals as needed following District Attorney Policies, procedures and protocols.

 

Performs clerical and other related duties as required and as assigned.  

 

Job Standards:

High school diploma or equivalent including or supplemented by courses in secretarial subjects. 

 

Three (3) year’s experience in law enforcement/criminal justice environment preferred that would provide the necessary knowledge of criminal justice processes as well as varied clerical and secretarial work or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Experience in answering multi-line telephone system.

 

Must possess excellent communication and diction skills, and communicate clearly and courteously with attorneys, professional staff, law enforcement, court personnel, community agencies and the public.

 

Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic.

 

Ability to understand, follow and clearly communicate District Attorney Policies, protocols, procedures and/or services of the Office of the District Attorney within the parameters of this position.

 

Ability to maintain required reception records and maintain current referral and resource records.

 

Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

               

Ability to carry out written and/or verbal instructions effectively and with dispatch.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with attorneys, professional staff, law enforcement, court personnel, community agencies and the public.

 

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

 

Equipment:

Multi-line telephone system; standard office equipment.

 

Work Environment:

Professional law firm environment.

Usual working days/hours:  Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location of work:  Office of the District Attorney Trial Division

 

Must pass KBI background check and pre-employment urine drug screen.

 

Valid Kansas Driver’s License Required.  Must meet Driver Qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.
