Job Description:

Job Objectives:

Detail oriented problem solvers are needed to join the billing team.  The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the day-to-day billing functions of the EMS (Ambulance) billing activities in accordance with current acceptable accounting and cost reimbursement principles relating to health care and the Sedgwick County Health and Human Services division as may be directed by the billing team leader.

 

Essential Job Functions:

20% Process Health Care Claims, Downloading e-PCR s (Patient Care Reports) from EMS to the billing software, Paper Claim filing using CMS1500, Electronic Claim Filing, Involve Ability to research claim denials on website and/or phone calls to payers, Follow up on all claims to ensure accurate payment and/or denial is received for all claims submitted. Accurately posting payments/adjustments made by various payer sources, Download payer remittances from various websites, Process any written communications from payer sources, Processing Monthly Patient Statements to clients who have out of pocket expenses & other Misc. billing duties

20% Journal Entries: Process Daily Journal Entries to ensure accurate posting of revenues to applicable County revenue streams.

20% Working bankruptcies and other adjustments to balances ensuring that all applicable services are written off as appropriate.

20% Collections: Working calls from clients who have been turned to Collections, Turning new accounts to collections.

20% Customer Service: Answering calls on billing issues from payer’s and or clients.

 

Job Standards: Certified Ambulance Coder (CAC) preferred; 1-2 years’ experience in related field preferred; Knowledge of applicable bookkeeping principles and practices required; Must be detail oriented; Knowledge of Microsoft office; Ability to work well with others; Ability to maintain confidential information; Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions.

 

Testing/Screening Requested:

KBI and abuse registry checks

Pre-employment drug screen

Skills testing - Typing, 10 key, data entry

Modern office equipment

 

Position requires driving:  No

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Location of work:  635 N Main Wichita, KS

Majority of time will be spent working at a computer and/or on the telephone

 

Must pass KBI background check and pre-employment urine drug screen.

Valid Kansas Driver’s License Required.  Must meet Driver Qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.
