The Meter Reader / Codes Officer is responsible for monitoring and reading the City's utility meter system and investigating and enforcing nuisance code violations.  The Officer also provides assistance with animal control and support and assistance to the Building & Planning Official in the application of building codes and zoning regulations.

The Officer will utilize and/or develop a tracking system to provide regular progress reports on nuisance code violations and related enforcement actions.  The Officer will keep the Building & Planning Official apprised of his or her work through regular oral and written reports and will report potentially controversial mattes to the Official.

Completed work is usually evaluated for technical soundness, appropriateness and conformity to policy requirements.  The methods used in arriving at the end results are not usually reviewed in detail.  Completed work is also reviewed from an overall standpoint in terms of effectiveness in meeting requirements or expected results; interaction with the public; and professionalism.
