Job Description:
Job Objectives:
Patrols the buildings and grounds for safety of
personnel, and protection of property.
Provides parking control, and protects other facilities against
unauthorized entrance, theft, and fire.
Essential Job Functions:
Responds and initiates necessary action when called to
sick/injury incidents, suspicious persons, disturbances, and fire and holdup
alarms. Provides information and assistance
to visitors; promotes favorable public relations between Sedgwick County and
the general public. Enforces Sedgwick
County resolutions related to security.
Escorts personnel to and from parking areas. May assist in other duties of the Courthouse
Police as assigned.
Job Standards:
High school diploma, six months law enforcement or
security experience. Valid Kansas Driver’s
License is required. The applicant will
have a demonstrated history of high ethical standards. Ability to react calmly in a quick and
efficient manner to emergency situations.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with
the public and other employees. Ability
to enforce rules and regulations in a tactful and firm manner. Ability to understand and follow written and
oral instructions.
Testing/Screening Requested:
Must have the ability to operate portable radio, motor
vehicles, lock and unlock doors, operate metal detection equipment, and the
ability to walk up and down flights of stairs.
Equipment:
Portable radio, motor vehicle, metal detection equipment,
computers, telephone and cellular telephone.
Work Environment:
Position requires both indoor and outdoor inspections
during all types of weather conditions.

Usual working days/hours:
Midnight to 8:00am Saturdays, Sundays & All Holidays

Sedgwick County Courthouse 525 N. Main
Must pass KBI background check and
pre-employment urine drug screen.
Valid
Kansas Driver’s License Required. Must
meet Driver Qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet
Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.
