Job Description:

TESTING REQUIRED: TYPING @ 35 WPM, DATA ENTRY 7500 KPH AND 10 KEY @ 7500 APPLICATION MUST BE SUBMITTED BEFORE TESTING WILL BE ALLOWED. NO APPOINTMENT REQUIRED TO TEST.

 

TEST TIMES ARE BELOW. TESTING OUTSIDE OF THESE TIMES IS NOT ALLOWED. YOU WILL NEED APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES TO TEST:

 

TUESDAYS: 10AM – NOON, 2PM– 4PM

WEDNESDAYS: 10AM – NOON, 2PM – 4PM

THURSDAYS: 10AM – NOON, 2PM – 4PM

 

Testing is located at 510 N. Main, Suite 304, Wichita, KS 67203 -- The Historic Courthouse. **Applications will not be reviewed until testing is successfully completed**

 

There is no free parking at the courthouse. You may park at a meter on Market Street, or there is parking garage located at the corner of Main and Elm that will cost approximately $5.00.

 

Job Objectives:

Perform complex clerical work in fiscal operations involving the computation, compilation, collection, and processing of tags, titles, and registrations.

 

Receives, receipts, records, and accounts for funds.

  

Essential Job Functions:

Assists citizens over the telephone and in person by providing assistance regarding taxes, titles, and fees.

 

Receives, receipts, records, and accounts for funds.

 

Computes and collects taxes, fees.

 

Uses a computer to enter information into an automated centralized accounting system and verifies accuracy of input; processes information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

 

Collects taxes; screens citizens for delinquent taxes, runs adding machine tapes to balance accounts

 

Job Standards:

Knowledge of office methods and procedures and familiarity with standard office equipment including accounting or bookkeeping methods.

 

Ability to make complex and varied arithmetic computations and calculations rapidly and accurately.

 

Ability to operate various standard office machines.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.

 

Skill in the operation of calculator and PC.

 

 Ability to lift 40 pounds.

 

Ability to sit at a desk for up to 8 hours per day.

  

Testing/Screening Requested:

Typing @ 35 wpm, data entry @ 7500 kph & 10-key @ 7500 kph

  

Equipment:

PC, Calculator, Copier

 

Work Environment:

Office

Usual working days/hours:  8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday thru Friday

Location of work:  any of 4 tag office locations

 

Must pass KBI background check and pre-employment urine drug screen.

 

Valid Kansas Driver’s License Required.  Must meet Driver Qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.
