Job Description:

TUESDAYS: 10AM – NOON, 2PM
– 4PM
WEDNESDAYS: 10AM – NOON,
2PM – 4PM
THURSDAYS: 10AM – NOON,
2PM – 4PM
Testing is located at 510
N. Main, Suite 304 Wichita, KS 67203 -- The Historic Courthouse. **Applications
will not be reviewed until testing is successfully completed**
There is no free parking
at the courthouse. You may park at a meter on Market Street, or there is
parking garage located at the corner of Main and Elm that will cost
approximately $5.00.

are valid for one year only.
Job Objectives:
Meet with social workers and other professionals/agencies
to compose and file Child in Need of Care petitions.
Essential Job Functions:
Meet with social workers and other professionals,
coordinate and compile information to compose and type child in need of care
petitions. This includes reviewing all
investigative reports, writing witness lists, obtaining pertinent information,
typing the petition, putting the file together and filing the petition with the
court. Coordinate with doctors,
psychiatric professionals, substance abuse therapists and hospital staff to
obtain information as needed. Compose,
type and file all motions and all journal entry of judgments associated with
child in need of care cases.
Job Standards:
Bachelor’s degree in sociology, psychology, criminal
justice or a related field preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years’ experience
OR equivalent training/experience.
Knowledge of the Child in Need of Care policies and
procedures.
Knowledge of secretarial practices and procedures.
Knowledge of modern office equipment, practices, and
procedures.
Knowledge of juvenile civil law and the court process.
Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and
arithmetic.
Ability to understand the policies, procedures, and
services of the Office of the District Attorney.
Ability to compile and maintain complex records; assemble
and organize data, and prepare, in writing, clear and concise reports from such
records.
Ability to analyze, compile and organize, from complex
records and reports, a sequence of information and events and formulate in
clear, concise language a written Child In Need of Care petition.
Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain
confidentiality of such information.
Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with
established policies and procedures.
Ability to carry out instructions effectively and with
dispatch.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with attorneys, social service agency personnel, outside
agencies, co-workers and the public.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both
orally and in writing.

Valid
Kansas Driver’s License Required. Must
meet Driver Qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet
Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.
