Job Description:

The City of McPherson, KS (Population 13,155) is seeking a Public Lands and Facilities Director. This executive-level position is a newly created position which reports directly to the Commissioner of Public Lands and is responsible for the overall direction and management of numerous public lands divisions and public facilities within the City including: park, cemetery, golf course, community building, facilities maintenance at the municipal building, animal shelter, closed landfill site and water park: This position also oversees the construction and design of city projects at various public land sites and development and management of multiple annual budgets for various division/departments under the positions authority.

Personnel and Resource management is a major responsibility for this position.  Strong knowledge in horticulture, turf management, facility operation and maintenance.  Candidates are expected to have a working knowledge of all aspects of public land management.

The Public Lands and Facilities Director will serve as a key member of the Executive Management team and will be a collaborative business partner with other departments. He/she will be capable of bringing new ideas, innovations, and best practices to the organization to further the development robust, efficient, and service-oriented operations.

Qualified candidates should possess a bachelors degree in park and recreation administration, public administration or a related field; 4 + years of increasingly responsible supervisory experience in similar facilities  or parks, or golf course management; 2+ years experience in developing and overseeing recreational/park related budgets; a valid Kansas Driver’s License with a good driving record.

 

Annualized Pay Range: $56,659 -$75,524
