Immediate openings.  Miscellaneous shifts.  Explained at time of interview.

 

Drug and alcohol pre-employment screening required provided by the district.

 

Physical and Tuberculosis test required upon hiring.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   1.     Valid CDL license with required endorsements on some positions

                                    2.     Complete and pass physical for school bus drivers

                                    3.     Minimum of six hours training time behind the wheel

                                            of a bus

                                    4.     Meet all state requirements for bus drivers which

                                            includes defensive driving course and first aid course

                                    5.     Demonstrated aptitude or competence for all assigned

                                            responsibilities

                                    6.     Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the

                                            board of education may find appropriate and acceptable

 

REPORTS TO:             TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

 

JOB GOAL: To enable each student, through safe and efficient transportation, to take full advantage of the complete range of curricular and extracurricular activities offered by the district’s schools

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.      Knowledge of and obeys all traffic laws.

2.      Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.

3.      Follows district’s policies in regard to student transportation.

4.      Maintains discipline when students are on bus.

5.      Follows district’s procedures when disciplining students.

6.      Keeps assigned bus clean.

7.      Keeps to assigned schedule

8.      Performs pre-trip inspection following district’s policy.

9.      Notifies supervisor in case of mechanical failure or lateness.

10.    Discharges students only at authorized stops.

11.    Transports only authorized students.

12.    Reports all accidents and completes required reports.

13.    Other responsibilities as noted in the transportation handbook or as assigned by the transportation supervisor.

14.    Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:   Wage and length of employment to be established by

                                                the board of education.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of support services personnel.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

 

Completion of defensive driving course and first aid course

Valid CDL license with required endorsements

Physically able to fit within the area of a standard bus seat (approximately 39” x 18” x 90”)

Physical ability to drive vehicles of different sizes and styles
