Job Description:

Usual working days/hours: Monday - Friday (occasional Saturday)

Location of work: 1109 N Minneapolis St. Wichita, KS

Job Objectives:
Orders and performs medicolegal autopsies and other postmortem investigations. Determines cause and manner of death; executes death certificates and cremation permits. Orders and interprets laboratory reports. Attends scene of death; on call for nights, weekends, and holidays. Work with law enforcement personnel; confers with attorneys and family members, testifies in court. Functions as Acting Coroner in absence of Coroner. Performs other related work as required.

Essential Job Functions:
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organization, management, and supervision. Skill in conducting postmortem examinations. Skill in the use of a personal computer. Skill in Microscopic techniques. Ability to supervise subordinates. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with staff, law enforcement officials, and attorneys. Ability to testify in court.

Job Standards:
M.D. or D.O., licensed by the State of Kansas, board certified or board eligible in Forensic Pathology. State of Kansas Driver’s License.
