Usual working days/hours: Mon thru Fri 8:00am to 5:00pm and on call rotation that would include weekends and holidays and after hours when employee's turn comes up in the rotation
Performs various maintenance duties in an entry level position to efficiently operate the County facility and keep it in proper repair as well as keep it clean and safe for public and employee use.
Essential Job Functions:
Must have a valid Kansas drivers license and meets the requirement of Sedgwick County Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage Policy,as driving County vehicles is an essential job function. assists in performing preventative maintenance on air conditioning and heating units; checks and tests heating and air conditioning equipment. -Performs plumbing work; repairs leaking faucets and pipes; unstops and repairs toilets; unstops drains; installs plumbing ducts, pipes, and fixtures. -assists in troubleshoots and repairs electrical problems in fans, motors, compressors, pumps, air handling units, appliances, etc,; installs special power sources, lighting systems, and multivoltage switches; replaces electrical motors, elements, fuses, bulbs, and thermostats; operates volt/ohm meter, conduit cutters and benders, wire strippers, soldering gun, power hacksaw, and specialized connectors and fasteners. -Replaces light bulbs and tubes; installs ballasts in lights; repairs fixtures. -assist in the removal, or replacement and repairs of pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical locks; disassembles, installs, and repairs locks -Paints rooms, hallways, and ceilings; patches holes; primes area for painting. -Maintains grounds; mows grass; trims weeds and hedges. -Performs other related work as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent Two years experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Criminal background history check and U/A
This position may requires the use of several various tools and equipment invloved in the maintenance field from small hand tools to bench saws, torches, welders,and larger equipment such as snow plows, fork lifts, etc... There will be some computer use using Microsoft products for generating emails, and will use a maintenance ticket software for opening and closing maintenance requests.
This positions' environment varies from building to building and could require work in office settings, to roof tops, and out door work as well as work in the maintenance shop, employee will work outdoors in all weather conditions, and be exposed to the weather elements. Chemicals and odors will vary from refrigerants, paints to paint thinners, gasoline, oils, solvents,cleaning agents, etc...
