Usual working days/hours:
Mon-Fri 8am to 5pm plus on call rotation
Location of work:
Juvenile Detention Facility plus other County facilities
Performs HVAC related duties as well as other maintenance related duities to efficiently operate the County's facilities and keep them in proper repair, as well as keep facilities clean and safe for public use. In addition this position is a working supervisor position.
Essential Job Functions:
Driving County vehicles and equipment is one of the essential job functions.Possess a valid driver s license and ability to demonstrate safety in the use of county motor vehicles. Able to read, write and speak in English. Able to communicate courteously and professionally both in written and verbal forms. Independently troubleshoot and repair HVAC/mechanical/control malfunctions in systems listed above. Keep accurate records of refrigerant usage and refrigerant loss for each machine as required by the Clean Air Act and Montreal Protocol. Provide required preventative maintenance and repair of systems listed above and on assorted mechanical equipment. Design and layout primary wiring service for motors and equipment under County responsibility. Perform preventative maintenance tasks to keep systems and devices working properly and safely. This will sometimes include working on live (energized) systems, circuits and devices with voltages of 480 VAC. Perform preventative maintenance on assorted mechanical equipment. Fabricate and install sheet metal ductwork in the listed properties as needed. Diagnose, evaluate present condition and repair as necessary high and low pressure duct systems; including air handlers and related equipment. Make needed modifications to gas supply lines as needed. (Not including welded lines.) On an as needed basis, employee will be called on to assist other employees performing tasks other than their typical assigned duties. On an as needed basis respond to calls for assistance that may occur during any hour of the day or night. These calls may or may not be emergencies, but situations that service is needed promptly. On an as needed basis assist with winter snow and ice removal work (sometimes beginning early in the morning) using shovels and power equipment on slippery surfaces. Install thermo-insulation on hot and cold water piping as needed. -Performs other related functions as required.
High School Diploma or equivalent. -Universal EPA certification -Minimum two years job experience

This position requires the use of several various tools and equipment invloved in the maintenance field from small hand tools to table saws, torches, welders,larger equipment such as snow plows, fork lifts, etc...
This positions environment varies from building to building and could require work in office settings, to roof tops, and out door work as well as work in the maintenance shop, outdoors in all weather conditions, and exposed to the weather elements. Chemicals and odors will vary from refrigerants, paints to paint thinners, gasoline, oils, solvents,cleaning agents, etc...
