Responsible for day-today oversight an operations of all Risk Management functions of the organization, including administration of a comprehensive risk management program, the County’s Safety Program, and Workers Compensation Program. Manages the County’s overall insurance portfolio to include purchased insurance policies and self-insurance programs.
Essential Job Functions:
• Manage the Risk Management Department - Provide day-to-day supervision to the staff of Risk Management - Address all Risk Management personnel issues - Provide oversight to the County Safety and Workers Compensation programs - Perform evaluations of direct reports - Ensures staff has the skills and resources to get things done. Provides staff with coaching, training and opportunities for growth to improve their skills. - Effectively communicate with staff to ensure clear understanding of goals and how they translate into daily work product - Establish clear, written internal policies and procedures - Communicates clear and concise expectations and holds staff accountable to the standard on a regular basis - Establishes Worker’s Compensation rate in collaboration with Budget Department • Conduct robust and comprehensive county wide risk assessment and identification, and report on findings on the following areas of concern - IT risk - Operational Risk - Fiscal Risk - Contract Review • Develop and execute action plan to address identified risks - Develop and oversee execution of county policy that addresses risks identified through risk assessment process - Develop risk mitigation strategies and recommend action to County Manager and Executive Team - Manage the county’s insurance program as part of the overall risk programs Provide back-up support to Safety and Workers Compensation programs. Complete special programs as needed
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Five years progressively responsible experience in insurance management with specific experience in risk analysis and administration of general liability benefits or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.
