Tues - Fri, 8:30a - 5:30p; Sat 7a - 4p
Location of work:
Receive, classify and package materials delivered to the County household hazardous waste collection program for proper disposal.
Essential Job Functions:
Receive hazardous & non-hazardous items at HHW facility. Unload materials from vehicles, while providing satisfactory customer service to all that are encountered. Record, process and store materials in their correct DOT hazard class. Operate packing/storing, recycling, transportation and other equipment used in handling household hazardous waste. Prepare items for shipment for disposal per DOT & KDHE requirements. Facility Maintenance; perform routine and basic maintenance on the facility and equipment; clean the facility according to the set schedule of duties. Maintain proper certifications & skills. Ensure all certifications are valid as well as being current and updated annually. Attend advanced training and schooling and /or seminars that are job pertinent. Participate in remote collection events. Assist customers at the Swap & Shop area and checkout.
High School diploma or equivalent. Valid Kansas drivers license. Minimal experience handling household hazardous waste or equivalent. 40 hour HAZWOPER, forklift certification, first aid & CPR all preferred.

Shop environment with exposure to chemicals and other household hazardous waste; must be able to lift 50 lbs minimum without restrictions; must be able to work occasionally in adverse weather.
