Job Title: Director Business & Community Partnerships
Salary: $0 Monthly

Job Description:


Purpose:  The Director of Business and Community Partnerships is responsible for establishing & building partnerships, with objectives to include:

  • Creating a strategic plan for cultivating business and community partners for district programs and initiatives

  • Coordinating corporate partners for advertising, marketing and naming rights for district facilities  

  • Working collaboratively with director of career center to identify and cultivate business and post-secondary partners

  • Securing financial partnerships and additional funding opportunities

  • Securing mentors, internships, & applied learning opportunities for students as part of the career center

  • Working on strategic planning, collaboration and communication with business & community partners

  • Working collaboratively with director of career center to coordinate programming needs

  • Serving as liaison with community, business and education organizations

  • Strengthening business and community relationships to achieve common goals connected with the Kansans Can vision

  • Increasing community outreach

  • Coordinating with Director of Communication on strategic initiatives

Education/Certification Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree and applicable experience

Supervisor: Superintendent

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Develop partnerships with postsecondary institutions, industry and business

  • Represent the district at various civic, business and professional events

  • Manage budgets and financial responsibilities, including exploring grant and partnership opportunities

  • Assist with local media calls requesting interviews and information

  • Work collaboratively with communication department to market the district

  • Cultivate and lead the internship/professional experience opportunities for students, including placing interns and obtaining feedback on placed students

  • Cultivate current partners and actively search for new business/community partners to speak to classes and provide field trips, resources, etc.

  • Attend the District Advisory Councils at least twice a year, including working with educators to obtain new members and nurture current members

  • Maintain short- and long-term business development plans

  • Maintain database (Salesforce, CRM, Excel, etc.) of prospective client information

  • Complete other duties as assigned by Superintendent

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Program or Project Management experience

  • Proven success with business and community partnerships

  • Strong organizational, communication and networking skills

  • Ability to meet or exceed established goals and achievement targets

  • Skilled relationship-builder with students, educators, families and business/community partners

  • Effective ability to coordinate with post-secondary institutions, industry and business

  • Highly effective public speaking & writing skills

  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)

  • Innovation and growth mindset

  • Experience with lead generation and prospect management

  • Comfortable making cold calls and talking to new people all day

  • Self-motivated and self-directed

  • Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

  • Able to professionally and confidently communicate with C-Level Executives

  • Creative problem-solver who thrives when presented with a challenge

  • Possess an energetic, outgoing, and professional demeanor

Contract: 260 day contract
