Job Title: Recreation Coordinator
Class Title: Recreation Coordinator
Salary Schedule: Hourly, Non-Exempt Range: Step 1($14.67) – Step 15($20.72)
The Recreation Coordinator will assist in Recreation, Senior, Fitness, & Special Event programs, provide facility supervision, and assist wit general maintenance of the facility. The goals of the recreation program are to strengthen the bonds between individuals of the city, promote a safe, pleasant, & peaceful place to live, develop trust & respect between all people in the city.
Works under the general supervision of the Recreation Director.
Some supervision over recreation volunteers, instructors, youth sports officials, programs, & activities,
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program facilitation, supervision, and officiating.
Giving tours, monitoring facility activities, making phone calls, and clerical work
Opening & closing of the building.
Handling money and registering participants.
Assist with facility preparation and maintenance.
Performs other related duties as deemed necessary or assigned by supervisors.
High School Diploma or GED
Education and/or experience or in Recreation, Sports Management, or related fields.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of recreation programs preferred.
Able to multi-task; work independently with drive and initiative.
Experience in operating maintenance equipment preferred.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Establish and maintain successful working relationships with other employees and the public.
Familiar with Microsoft Office programs/products.
Must posses a valid Kansas driver’s license.
Must pass drug test, post job offer physical and background check.
Manual labor including lifting and carrying heavy objects, bending, kneeling, sitting and climbing is required daily to fulfill the duties of this position.
Some adverse working conditions exist with this position. Exposure to hazardous chemicals, heavy machinery, and excessive noise in all types of weather conditions can be expected.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, run, drive, push, pull, carry, see, hear, speak, crawl, use hands, climb, kneel, smell and other similar types of functions.
The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move more than 110 pounds and frequently lift 25 pounds.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Most work will be performed in various types of conditions.
The job is performed primarily during preparation and delivery of scheduled recreation programs. Recreation programs are generally prepared and delivered during weekday afternoon & evening hours and occasionally all day on Saturdays.
Exposure to hazardous chemicals, department equipment, and excessive noise is expected.
