Job Description:

Develops, organizes, facilitates and instructs criminal justice / law enforcement classes (day, evening, weekend), Team-T (in-service) seminars both on and off campus; works with pre-service and in-service students; develops and maintains working relationships with local, state and federal public safety agencies, assists with student organization and criminal justice competition team.  The successful applicant will be a part of the GCCC Department of Public Safety educational team working in a rapidly changing environment specializing in creative and innovative hands-on instruction.  This role also includes regular service on college committees, task forces and all other duties assigned by college administration.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 7 years as a law enforcement officer including previous teaching experience, and experience and working knowledge in the following areas:  supervision, investigations, patrol procedures and tactics, special tactics and operations, firearms, working knowledge of computer software and technology.  Certification in or the ability to obtain certifications in the following areas is required:  valid Kansas Driver’s License, NRA Police Firearms Certification, and tactical instructor training.  Preferred education of an Associate’s Degree with an emphasis in the Criminal Justice or related field or equivalent work experience.   The applicant must have no serious misdemeanors convictions, felony convictions, crimes of moral turpitude convictions or domestic violence convictions.  A criminal background check will be conducted on the successful candidate.

ASSIGNMENT: Reports to the Dean of Technical Education and Workforce Development.

SALARY: Based on qualifications and experience.  This is a 172-day base contract.
