Performs varied clerical and office work involving the exercise of some independence in the conduct of standard duties for the support of administrative, professional or technical employees.
Essential Job Functions:
50% - Customer Service - Performs duties as a technical clerk or typist; or independent work involving significant procedure and sequence. Duties require strong customer service skills and good judgment. Answers, screens, and routes division telephone calls to appropriate destination; greets and replies in person, by telephone, or by correspondence to inquiries from visitors and callers; refers more difficult inquiries to an appropriate official. Assists other division clerical staff in performing their duties when required. Assists in a variety of operational activities. Receives, sorts, stamps, and distributes division mail. Performs clerical functions and may have other duties unique to the division, agency, or office that are not of a clerical nature.
20% - Data Maintenance - Records and maintains various statistical data regarding the division’s services, activities and operations. Prepares, maintains, processes and distributes various reports, records, spreadsheets and other documents pertinent to the division’s smooth operation; ensures same is in compliance with division policies and procedures and is accurate and complete.
20% - Clerical Tasks - Compiles, copies, and completes data for administrative and public reports, bulletins, questionnaires and other documents; makes varied mathematical computations on material assembled. Receive payments from clients and verify for accuracy.

Actively seeks and identifies opportunities to contribute to and achieve goals. Maintains a sense of purpose, value, and ownership of their work. Works independently with little direction.
Time Management: Shows ability to plan, schedule, and self-direct work. Displays a high level of effort and commitment towards completing assignments in a timely manner; works with minimal supervision and is motivated to achieve.
Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent including or supplemented by courses in secretarial and general bookkeeping subjects. Transcript verifying education credits is required.
Years of Experience: Two years of experience in varied clerical and/or secretarial work. Professional references are required to verify the related work experience.
License, certifications, etc…: Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and pre-employment screen for alcohol and drugs. Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356.
Physical Requirements of Position:
Requires the ability to exert moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work involving moving from one area of the office to another, light lifting, standing, walking, stair climbing and driving when requested to run errands and attend meetings.
Ability to endure verbal and mental abuse when confronted by hostile views and opinions of clients and their families.
Dependable and timely attendance is required.

Usual working days/hours: M – F, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location of work: 3803 E. Harry
Work is performed in an office environment within a correctional facility or program. Tasks are regularly performed inside buildings with limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions, however, travel outside is required to run errands and attend meetings. Will have some exposure to hostile people.
