Job Description:

SUMMARY OF POSITION INFORMATION & TYPICAL DUTIES:

The City of Merriam Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker I.  The qualified applicant will be responsible for performing a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and will operate a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City Street and storm drainage facilities and systems.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Inspect/repair streets and drainage systems and signs to ensure proper functioning; maintain records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, water supply and consumption; determine the location of gas, telephone, power, television, water and sewer lines prior to excavation; respond to complaints regarding traffic signals, streets signs, drainage problems, sidewalks, curbs and gutter and explain findings to supervisor; drive trucks of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of equipment, gravel, sand and salt in a variety of weather conditions.  Will perform other related duties as necessary and assigned. 
 

SALARY RANGE:  $13.17 - $15.00 Per Hour

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: •High School Diploma or GED equivalent. •One (1) year of experience related to construction, maintenance or repair. •Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides knowledge of equipment, facilities, materials, methods and procedures used in maintenance, construction and repair activities. •Must have valid State Driver’s License and Commercial Driver's License certification; or the ability to obtain a CDL within 8 weeks from hire date.
