The City of Arkansas City is seeking a Seasonal/Temporary Grounds Maintenance with either Public Works or Parks & Facilities. It will pay $10.00 per hour and will not include benefits, except those required by law.
The successful applicant must have a valid drivers license and must pass post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol screens, background checks and motor vehicle report.

GENERAL OVERVIEW OF POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work and operates a variety of equipment in the maintenance of City property.
Works under the general guidance and direction of the assigned department/division supervisor.
Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:
- Mows and maintains City parks, open space areas, drainage ditches, walking trails, and the assigned department/division shop areas.
- Trims and edges grass along buildings, walkways and flower beds.
- Maintains a variety of records relating to job duties.
- Insures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking after each use.
- Performs routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the appropriate person.
- Performs all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods and procedures used in the maintenance of mowers, weed eaters, trimmers, and various lawn and garden tools.
- Skill in operation of all listed tools and equipment.
- Ability to work safely.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments/divisions and the public.
- Ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
- Ability to perform at a satisfactory level with limited supervision and/or assistance in job assignments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or acceptable equivalent.
