Job Title: Field Appraiser
Salary: $13.92 Hourly

Job Description:

Starting Rate: $13.92/hr plus excellent benefits (health insurance, KPERS, paid time off, more).  Full-time, 37.5 hours/week

Position Responsibilities:  Gather and analyze information regarding county real estate, personal property and assisting with general office duties.  Requires the ability to work effectively with limited supervision.


A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.  Employee is required to attend education courses on property valuation, data collection or other courses as assigned by the County Appraiser for continuing education purposes.  To maintain this position, the employee must be able to pass the following required courses as given from the Property Valuation Department of the Department of Revenue and the International Association of Assessing Officers within the required number of years of employment as designated below:

Orion Introduction and Overview of Basic Functionality (2 years)

Orion Residential/Agricultural Improvement Data Collection Guidelines (2 years)

Orion Commercial/Industrial Improvement Data Collection Guidelines (2 years)

Orion Sales File Development Workshop (2 years)

Basic Mapping (4 years)

Reading Legal Descriptions and Understanding Deeds (4 years)

Kansas Property Tax Law (4 years)

Special RequirementsMust have and maintain a clean driving record for this position.  A “clean” record is defined as:  No misdemeanor or felony convictions for traffic/vehicular offenses (such as but not limited to DUI, vehicular homicide, reckless driving, hit and run, etc.) that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) at fault or chargeable accidents that are less than five (5) years old; no more than two (2) traffic infractions (such as but not limited to speeding, failure to yield right of way, etc.) that are less than one year old.

Special Requirements:  Ability to respectfully interact with the public mandatory.
