Job Title: Part-time Landfill Attendant
Salary: $10.44 Hourly
Part-time: ocated in the Scalehouse at the Landfill
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Solid Waste Coordinator, the Landfill Attendant is responsible for opening and closing of the Sanitary Landfill six days a week during regular hours. The employee in this position collects dump fees and performs semi-skilled duties on the scale computer.
Examples of Work (Essential Functions):
- Computer data entry to generate weigh tickets;
- Collects dump fees and makes change;
- Maintains special waste log report;
- Maintains waste tire log book;
- Maintains white goods log book;
- Assist customers with questions and inquires;
- Maintain records on leachate disposal;
- Direct customers to the proper unloading areas;
- County cash, balance cash drawer and make deposits;
- Generate end of day transaction report;
- Open and close landfill gates;
- Follow safety rules;
- Other related duties as deemed necessary or as required.
Job Title: Landfill Attendant
Experience: This is an entry level position. The employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after one year in the position.
Education: High school diploma or GED is required.
Skills: General knowledge of computer equipment. Ability to handle money and make change accurately. Need substantial knowledge of landfill operations to comply with regulations and to direct customers to proper area.
Problem Solving: Limited problem solving exists in this position. Problems include determining load size, type of material and locations to unload.
Decision Making: Limited decision making exists in this position. Decisions include determining if load can be accepted into the landfill.
Accountability: Employee is not responsible for budgetary control of the department. Employee handles considerable amount of cash.
Supervision: Employee does not have supervisory responsibility over subordinate personnel.
Personal Relations: Daily contact with the general public.
Working Conditions: Limited exposure to dust, odors and adverse weather conditions are factors in this position.
Physical Requirements: Light work in that the worker sits most of the time. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, stooping, lifting and carrying of moderate to heavy items. Employee may be required to lift up to 30 lbs. Conveying and receiving detailed or important instructions to and from the general public. Use of hands, wrists, and/or fingers for typing and paper handling.
