Process mail or in-person transactions for new licenses, license renewals or refunds. Assist public with inquiries.
Essential Job Functions:
Process car, truck, motorcycle, motorbike and trailer license renewals. Attach decals to registrations and deposit in the mail. Contact individuals to correct errors they have made. Process tax or tag refunds on computer, receive license plates, and mark off registrations. Total tags sold and taxes received for County Treasurer, Tag Department and County Appraiser. Total cash and checks, reconcile daily transactions and process end of day reports. Issue custom harvester plates, handicap placards and DS plates. Type title information for new vehicles or out-of-state transfers. Maintain “hold file” to ensure titles and assist customers in proper issuance of title and assist with filing, report preparations and collecting sales tax. Collect all fees pertaining to antiques and process verifications for banks and law enforcement.
High school diploma or G.E.D. This position requires continuous education. Strong math, spelling, typing, computer and calculator ability. Must possess a valid Kansas Driver’s License.
Must pass a pre-employment Physical Capacity Profile and Drug Screen at the Hutchinson Clinic.
Equipment: Computers, copier/fax machine, 10-Key calculator, printers and scanners.
Work is performed in a business setting. Susceptible to distracting noises and numerous conversations occurring at the same time. Subject to a variety of temperaments and attitudes by general public.
