SALARY RANGE:  $4,655.25/MO Step 1 to $7,131.04/MO Step 20  Depending on Qualifications

Job duties include: Management of planning and zoning functions, floodplain management and oversight of environmental health services which may include including processing, researching and analyzing subdivision and zoning requests; enforcing regulations; prepare and administer approved budgets; developing and updating regulations; preparing, analyzing and presenting data in written, graphic and oral reports for various public and government boards.  Candidate will have a strong knowledge in administering comprehensive plans, zoning and subdivision ordinances to include experience in conducting public hearings, building permit processes and code enforcement.  The Director will act as the floodplain administrator and should have knowledge of floodplain regulations and be able to obtain Certified Floodplain Manager certification (CFM) soon after beginning employment.  Will manage environmental services for a four (4) County area and a sewer district. Knowledge of waste water systems, well drilling and non-point pollution practices will assist in being successful at this position.  As Director you may be asked to research and report special projects not specifically related to planning or environmental work.  Must have a Bachelor’s degree in community or regional planning or a related field; must have knowledge and understanding of the principles and practices of rural planning and community relations, preferably have at least two (2) years’ experience in local government planning; must have strong written and oral communication skills; preferably have experience in budget preparation and administration and a valid driver’s license.  Must have or be able to obtain CFM within 18 months.
