Job Description:

Job Objectives:

Responsible for the clinical and administrative oversight of program staff that provides goal-directed, medically necessary services and support to individuals with mental health and/or substance abuse disorders. Individual participates in program planning, development and evaluation.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. Employees must be able to complete complex tasks by applying standard office policies, authorized instructions, and past precedents to achieve a desired outcome. Employee must quickly recognize emergency or sensitive situations and take appropriate action.  Critical decision making and the ability to think through the consequences of a decision are essential in this position.

 

Essential Job Functions:

Program Oversight

  • Ensures access standards for all services are met and clients receive timely services by monitoring referrals and assigning clients for intake assessments as needed
  • Coordinates referrals to on-going treatment services to ensure clients determined eligible for services are promptly assigned and engaged in treatment
  • Monitors program census to ensure adequate program resources are available to meet the identified community needs, including timely discharge of clients
  • Ensures program clients have treatment plans for all services recommended to meet individual needs
  • Monitors cooperative agreements, grants, and/or contracts with affiliate agencies and other entities to ensure compliance
  • Monitors customer satisfaction with program and services.  Includes internal and external customers
  • Ensures technical competency of staff by providing consultation and training as needed

Program Planning & Operations

  • Identifies appropriate program outcomes targeted at helping individuals with mental health problems to improve the quality of their lives
  • Develops and adapts based on changing environments, a plan of work for the program to ensure successful achievement of client outcomes, implementation of agency strategic plan, program development, and continuous quality improvement
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices in the field of mental health and substance use treatment to ensure that the program is positioned to provide high quality, effective and efficient services
  • Identifies gaps in services at the program and community level and develops proposals for meeting identified needs
  • Monitors potential barriers to treatment for prospective clients and develops strategies for reducing barriers and ensuring access to needed services
  • Develops responses to Requests for Proposals and grants as requested

Personnel Management

  • Ensures that the program is adequately staffed at all times by completing vacancy notices, recruiting, screening, interviewing, and submitting potential hires to personnel manager for processing
  • Delegate or provide coverage for absent team members to ensure continuity of care for clients
  • Responsible for the clinical and technical competence of program staff; includes participation in orientation, training, and consultation with program personnel
  • Monitors personnel management activities for staff on Performance Improvement Plans or other forms of disciplinary action and ensures adequate coaching and feedback is provided to staff giving them every opportunity for success on the job
  • Meets with assigned staff for regularly scheduled, individual supervision and maintains     documentation regarding the content of the supervisory conference; meets with assigned staff to create professional development goals -and approve staff use of designated professional development funds

Job Standards:

Minimum Qualifications

Educational Requirements:  Master’s Degree or higher

Years of Experience:  1-2 years of supervisory experience

License, certifications, etc…:   Must be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LMSW, LMFT, LMLP, LCP, or LP. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC licensing standards and pass KBI, SRS child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens.  Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE

Preferred Qualifications

Years of Experience:  Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience

License, certifications, etc…:   Must be clinically licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LCP or LCPC, LCMFT, or LSCSW.  Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and meet driver qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.

 

Physical Requirements of Position:

Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; and using measurement devices.

 

Testing/Screening Requested:

• Pass background checks including by not limited to KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry • Motor vehicle screens • Urine drug screen

 

Equipment:

Candidates must have basic or intermediate computer skills in word processing and email software, must be able to learn complex software related to an electronic medical record. Supervisors are required to carry a cell phone.

 

Work Environment:

Usual working days/hours:  Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Location of work:  4035 E Harry


May work in adverse conditions.  Fast-paced environment and may occasionally work with combative emotional consumers.
