**Paid CDL Class B or A Training**
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Perform general duties related to roadwork such as flagging traffic, trimming trees, cutting brush, mowing right-of-ways, replacing bridge planks, assisting in concrete work, duties related to asphalt work and preparation for asphalt work. May be assigned to clean up yard and/or shop buildings. Perform all other duties as assigned. Operate mower tractors, front end loaders, skid steers and power tools such as chain saws, weed whips and hand tools required for assigned tasks. Crew members may be required to work independently and be familiar with roads in Saline County. Check tires, fluid levels, leaks, noises, batteries, belts, gauges, blades, radios, etc. daily on assigned equipment. Service equipment as required. Report any needed repairs. Operate vehicles and equipment or do assigned work in crews observing safety rules such as lifting or any other work that could result in personal injury. Observe the Saline County and Department safety policies and use common sense practices. Wear protective equipment as required in safety manuals and other directives. Attend Saline County Road and Bridge Department safety meetings.
- Must have a High School diploma or the equivalent.
- Must have a valid Class C Driver License.
- Must be insurable under Saline County’s fleet insurance policy.
- Must be able to obtain at a minimum, a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License by completion of the probationary period. Promotion to Truck Driver, (Grade 8N, $12.73/HR at step 1) will be effective as soon as acquiring a CDL.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to perform work in all seasons.
GRADE: 7N $12.36/hr Step 1
