THIS POSITION REQUIRES THAT YOU TAKE A TYPING (at least 35 WPM) AND WONDERLIC (20 or better) TEST.

After your profile is created, you will take your test at the Wichita Workforce Center located at 2021 N. Amidon, Suite 1100, Wichita, KS 67203. There is no appointment necessary.
Their hours are Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM (You must arrive by 5:00 PM to test.). THERE IS NO TESTING OFFERED ON FRIDAYS.

Responsible for answering emergency calls and entering information into Computer Aided Dispatch system to ensure that public safety personnel can respond to emergencies in a timely, safe manner.
Essential Job Functions:
Answering emergency calls
- Answer emergency calls as presented, entering requests for service in the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system
- Remain logged into the phone system, in an available status, to receive emergency calls
Processing emergency calls in accordance to performance standards and protocols
- Question callers using outlined criteria applicable to the emergency being reported
- Enter information into the CAD system using outlined criteria applicable to the emergency being reported
- Provide instructions or directive to callers as appropriate
- Make appropriate referrals to other agencies or departments as required
Adhere to Emergency Communications’ policies with relation to operational procedures, employee conduct, and dependability
- Understand and adhere to Emergency Communications’ policies as written
- Maintain minimum training hours as required by policy

- Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent
Physical Requirements of Position:
Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met..
- Ability to hear 25 decibels or less at 500 hz; 4,000 hz; and points in between, as well as to accurately interpret what is heard.
- Visual acuity that is correctable to 20/20.
- Ability to pass a physical and drug screen.
- Ability to pass a Typing test at 35wpm or better and a Wonderlic test with a 20 or higher. Testing for this position will close on 2/28/2019.

This is a public-safety environment, thereby the worker will be subjected to citizens and field units experiencing high-stress, emotionally-charged situations that evolve rapidly, via phone calls and radio transmissions.
