Job Description:

The City of Marion, Kansas, population 1,927, is seeking to fill the position of Police Officer I. Marion is centrally located in Kansas. The police department consists of a Police Chief, 3 Patrol Officers and 6 part-time Patrol Officers.

Under the supervision of the Chief of Police, the Police Officer I is a non-exempt position under FLSA, which protects and serves the citizens of Marion. This employee provides citizen assistance, enforces all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances, and performs routine patrol duties. Making arrest, issuing traffic citations, and investigating crimes and accidents are the primary responsibilities of this position. This employee should possess communication and public relations skills. 

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, at least 21 years of age, of good moral character, have a valid driver's license and posses a high school diploma or GED. A full time law enforcement certification is preferred. Persons with Felony convictions, disqualifying criminal history, or Brady/Giglio concerns need not apply. 

Salary is DOQ, Benefits include KP&F retirement, health, dental, life insurance, paid vacation and sick leave.
