Performs highly technical tasks pertaining to the development of geographic data, maps and applications. Involves the design and development of geographic data. Geographic analysis and application development and/or database administration, design, creation and management. Significant client interaction. Collaboration and effective communication with GIS management and other County staff.
Essential Job Functions:
GIS application design, development, and maintenance
- Research and development tasks related to new and existing GIS technology
- Project management for application development projects
Customization and enhancements of existing applications and processes
- Supports automated internal processes for increased efficiencies
- Supports various tasks as required
Creation and maintenance of procedural documentation and training
- Creates internal standards and maintains procedures
- Creates and maintains progress reports on a regular basis

Educational Requirements: Experience in GIS programming, performing analysis, data development, database management, small systems applications and Internet application development.

Physical Requirements of Position:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defect, small part, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
Usual working days/hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location of work: 271 W 3rd - Ronald Reagan Building
The employee is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
