Lyon County Appraiser’s Office is seeking a Deputy Appriaser— This is a non-exempt position with amazing benefits!
The Deputy County Appraiser will assist the County Appraiser with the administration and implementation of office policies and assist with valuation projects and procedures necessary to maintain legal and State specified requirements pertaining to the valuation parameters within the mass appraisal system, including training and supervision of appraisal staff. To conduct field inspections, field interviews and surveys and otherwise maintain the databases necessary for the maintenance of real property valuations on an annual basis.
The Deputy Appraiser assists in completing and updating the county database from physical inspection, interpretation of returned questionnaires, and office-initiated reviews and answers taxpayer questions relating to property descriptions, valuation criteria and parameters. This position aids the County Appraiser office in defending county values during valuation appeals or protests, compiles and analyzes data related to the setting of valuation parameters including monitoring of sales and updating data files, makes routine decisions relating to the collection of property characteristic data, including assigning grade and CDU ratings, and requests select abilities to assist in valuation analysis, etc.
Requires 48 months of experience in mass appraisal position with extensive practice of appraisal decision-making, and considerable exposure to appraisal fundamentals and basic mass appraisal theory/courses and have one of the following designations KREAB, RMA, CAE, RES, AAS, MAS or equivalent designation (or must be able to earn a designation within 12 months). Must have a valid Kansas Class C Driver’s License, and able to read write and speak English fluently and a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent.
Successful candidate(s) will be required to pass a background check, pre-employment physical, pre-employment work screen and pre-employment drug screen.
