Job Title: Marketing Intern
Class Title: Marketing Intern
Salary Schedule: $10 - $12 per hour 15 hours per week (flexible schedule)
Contributes in a key role to the overall marketing mission of the City by assisting in performance of marketing, communication, graphic design, technical and professional work. Performs various marketing duties and support such as report preparation, project management, economic development, marketing, graphic design and public relations.
Works under the general supervision of the Director of Communications and Administration.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gathers, interprets and prepares data for marketing.
Assists with marketing videos, phrases and tag lines.
May make presentations to supervisors, boards, commissions, civic groups and the general public.
Assists with maintaining content for Cable Channel 7, City websites and other marketing platforms.
Design various types of marketing materials.
Assists with economic development aspects.
Identifies new ways to market the community.
Performs other related duties as deemed necessary or assigned by the Director of Communications and Administration.
A junior or senior majoring in marketing, communication, business or graphic design.
Intern must be enrolled, at least part-time, in an accredited university.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
Able to multitask; work independently with drive and initiative.
Capable of meeting deadlines, comprehending technical information and keep detailed records.
Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Graphic design for marketing materials.
Website design and management.
Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
Ability to market a community to attract businesses and citizens from both the region and nationally.
Able to communicate effectively the message and brand of a community to others.
Familiar with Microsoft Office programs/products or Adobe Creative Cloud.
Pre employment and random drug testing required.
Must posses a valid Kansas driver’s license.
